“On Wednesday, Feb 19, the case of a first year Polytechnic University of the Philippines who accused two Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) officers of physical abuse had its first hearing.” reports GMA News Online.
The 18-year-old victim claimed she was hit on the leg with a wooden rifle by one female ROTC officer and then subsequently hit in the hand by a male ROTC officer. The said abuse allegedly happened in January.
The victim claimed that aside from her, another student also experienced the same punishment at the hands of the ROTC officers. *No surprisingly, the incident has revived calls to completely abolish the ROTC.
