“A 34-year-old public school teacher named Cheryll Bonifacio, who was set to get married in May, was robbed and shot dead on Friday morning in Commonwealth, Quezon City, by motorcycle-riding men,” reports Rima Granali in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The report noted: “Bonifacio, a Grade 1 teacher at Commonwealth Elementary School (CES), was ambushed on her way home around 11:30 a.m. on Tabigo Street.”
The report also added that Bonifacio was engaged in a lending business or “pautang.” In fatc, she had just come from a house that had reportedly been “pawned” to her for PHP100,000 when she was attacked.
A witness said that Bonifacio was also supposed to get payment from a certain “Paloma” that day.
The report said that “Bonifacio was walking together with a fellow teacher and a pupil’s parent when she was shot in the face twice by one of the bike riders who was wearing a face mask.”
The guman then took Bonifacio’s black shoulder bag before escaping.
