No, this isn’t Breaking Bad.

A public high school teacher, who also happens to be a top drug target, was arrested in Bacnotan, La Union last night in a search carried out by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police after he was caught with shabu (meth).

The suspect, identified as Andrew Glenn Quinto is in the top three of the PDEA’s drug targets in the region, a report from PDEA’s Regional Office 1 in San Fernando City, La Union states.

He had been on the list of targets since the last semester of 2018, PDEA Regional Office 1 Information Officer Bismarck Bengwayan told Coconuts Manila in a phone interview.

Authorities searched the suspect’s home yesterday and found five heat sealed transparent sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about 4 grams. Authorities estimate that the suspected drugs are worth PHP27,000 (US$515.85).

The search was conducted following a search warrant issued by Judge Victor Concepcion of San Fernando RTC Branch 66.

Quinto, however, denied that the suspected drugs were his, Bombo Radyo reported.

He is currently detained at the PDEA Regional Office 1, Bengwayan said, and will face charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
