Because Metro Manila traffic seems to only be getting worse, a transport official from the LTFRB is looking solve it by removing 80% of private vehicles on EDSA.
LTFRB board member Ariel Inton “proposed that a private vehicle will not be allowed on EDSA from 6am to 9am four days a week, but allowed to pass through other roads,” reports Reinir Padua on Philstar.com.
From 9am onwards, all vehicles will be allowed along EDSA.
“We have to give priority to the public utility vehicles since private cars can find other roads apart from EDSA” LTFRB board member Ariel Inton was quoted as saying in an interview.
This proposal only covers the morning rush hours as “people are no longer in a hurry in the afternoon.”
Like the current number-coding scheme, the last digit of the plate number determines when a private vehicle will be allowed to ply EDSA.
