“The prospect of hellish traffic jams in Metro Manila with two major road projects beginning simultaneously on Monday night has prompted Quezon City 2nd District Rep. Winston Castelo to revive his proposal for a four-day work week for government employees to help ease the anticipated gridlock,” reports Leila B. Salaverria in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
On Monday, Feb 17, work started on Skyway 3 and Phase 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Expressway to the Entertainment City gambling hub.

The report explained that if the four-day work week is implemented, government workers have to make up for the extra non-working day by working 10 hours a day instead of the usual eight hours.
The report also pointed out that “the 10-hour, four-day work week complements a recent proposal from traffic officials to limit school days from five to four days a week as well.”
