Project Noah pushes for “survival kit” for disaster preparedness

Preparedness spells the difference between surviving disasters and becoming part of casualty statistics. This is the driving force behind Project Noah’s campaign for every person to have his or her own “survival kit” – a set of simple gadgets and tools that could greatly increase a one’s chances of survival during calamities.

Apart from basic medical and first aid supplies, the kit should have a coat, a thermal blanket and water, and an energy bar with 5-year shelf life. Project Noah xecutive director Prof. Mahar Lagmay.
says the kit should also have a solar-powered flashlight with built-in radio, which may be used in monitoring news. Other important things are a compass, cutter, hammer and magnet.

For communication, there should be a USB port that allows for the charging of mobile phones using a hand-controlled mechanism. Finally, a keychain with a buil in whistle which can be used to signal for help or rescue. ABS CBN News has the full story.
