Problematic PCOS machines in Muntinlupa

Days before the elections, six Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines failed the final testing in Muntinlupa City, with three of them needing to be replaced.

The problems ranged from defective ballot scanning to erratic printing. Muntinlupa Comelec election assistant II Jonathan Espera said the replacement machines will arrive on May 10. One PCOS machine at Tunasan Elementary School refused to work at all. Replacement PCOS machines will also be sent to Bagong Silang Elementary School in Sucat and San Pedro E. Diaz High School in Alabang.

Inquirer News reported that these two had defective ballot scanners. The other defective machines on the other hand, will either be repaired or replaced. Once the new machines have been delivered the Bureau of Election Inspectors will have to reinspect the PCOS equipment.
