On the flight back to the Philippines on Thu night, Oct 27, President Rodrigo Duterte possibly experienced divine intervention.

“I was looking at the skies while I was coming over here and I just — everybody was asleep, snoring — but a voice said that, ‘You know, if you don’t stop epithets, I will bring this plane down now,'” related Duterte shortly before delivering an arrival speech at the Davao International Airport.

Duterte theorized that the voice he supposedly heard was of divine origin. He revealed, “And I said, ‘Who is this?’ So, of course, it’s God.”

He added, “A promise to God is a promise to the people.”

“But when asked later whether he would no longer curse when talking about the United States, the European Union, and even Sen. Leila de Lima, Duterte said that would depend on ‘the right timing,'” reports Germina Lacorte in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Duterte quipped, “May timing iyan. Yung mga kababata ko, alam nila iyan (There’s timing for that. My peers, they know that).”
