To begin with, the combination of the supposedly unlucky date and the terrifying name of the street is already creepy. It also got lethal.
“At around 730 am on Friday, Dec 13, a pregnant Joselle Dinolong and her parents—Rosa Leticia and Cecilio—were shot dead on Kalye Impyerno in San Roque, Navotas City,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
Joselle, who was six months pregnant, and Rosa Leticia died on the spot, while Cecilio later died at the Tondo General Hospital.
The perpetrator of the crime was identified only as a man named “Gigi.” He turned out to be Joselle’s former live-in partner. The report didn’t say if he was the father of Joselle’s unborn baby.
Gigi, who also live on the same street, allegedly got provoked when Rosa Leticia went on a tirade against him. So, he went into his house and got a couple of firearms, a .45-caliber and a 9-mm gun. He then fired at the victims. Witnesses say he aimed for their heads.
Gigi fled the scene after he fired the shots. The police are hunting him down.
A bit of history on the street: In a Philippine Daily Inquirer article written by Nathaniel R. Melican, Jaymee T. Gamil, and Kristine Felisse Mangunay, Kalye Impyerno was described as “a narrow alley cutting through a slum area with a history of crime and violence that gave it its hellish name.”
If you’re going to look for it on Google Maps, don’t bother. The description provided by the Inquirer article pretty much explains why it may not be on the map. “To reach (Kalye Impyerno), one may start from Judge A. Roldan Street, turn left to Everlasting Street, pass through a dimly-lit flea market and make a right leading to a gap between two nondescript houses,” the article explains. The gap opens up to a very narrow alley that looks like sunlight doesn’t reach it. That’s Kalye Impyerno for you.
