Powerful Mexican drug cartel now has associates in PH

This is the kind of thing we all only used to hear in American action movies.

“Members of a Mexican drug cartel called Sinaloa — tagged as the most powerful drug ring in the world — have been in the Philippines, with the help of Chinese and West African syndicates,” reports Florante S. Solmerin in Manila Standard Today.

On Thursday, Dec 26, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Arturo Cacdac and Philippine National Police Chief (PNP) Alan Purisima presented “a video footage of the authorities’ raid of acompound in Lipa City on Christmas Day that netted 84 kilograms of shabu worth PHP420 million.

They also revealed that suspects Gary Tan, Argay Arenos and Rochelle Argenos were on the LPL fighting cock ranch owned by former Batangas governor Antonio “Tony” Leviste, in Barangay Inosloban, Lipa City.

According to the report, “Purisima said he has already ordered legal experts to look into the liability of the compound’s owner.” The incident, just puts more pressure on Leviste, who was recently pardoned from his prison sentence under controversial circumstances.

The authorities are investigating just how exactly gained foothold in the country.

It could be the Acapulco Galleon Trade all over again. Not.
