Power outages hit Metro Manila

Power interruptions hit parts of Luzon and Metro Manila on Wednesday afternoon, with parts of the metro experiencing rotating power failures and parts of nearby provinces reportedly without power.

According to a Manila Bulletin report, the power outages were caused by a Meralco supply deficiency.

Citing the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, the report said the power outages have hit all of Luzon, with from 40 percent to 50 percent of the Luzon grid without power. Five power plants are reportedly currently shut down.

The power outages have forced the Light Rail Transit Authority to go on code red on the LRT1 line. LRT2 is operating normally, LRTA spokesman Hernando Cabrera said.
