Feel like accomplishing an obstacle course during your morning bike ride? The apparent error in this Tomas Morato bike lane has got you covered.
Ziggie Gonzales, a Quezon City resident who frequents the area said he sees the bike lane all the time and has always found its positioning odd. He finally decided to share it on Facebook yesterday, after his girlfriend, an avid biker took some photos.
The photo shows several electric posts blocking the area supposedly set aside for people in bikes.
Gonzales holds the government accountable for the apparent error, sarcastically captioning his post “Great work Quezon City LGU! Best use of our tax money!”

“The lanes are not safe for biking even with the removal of the posts,” he said in a Facebook message to Coconuts Manila. “Bumpers of parked cars stick into the bike lane, opposite you have newly installed concrete posts. The [paved] tiles they used are slippery and provide no grip.”
Commenters agree.
The bike lane is part of Quezon City’s planned redevelopment of Tomas Morato, an entertainment hub lined with restaurants and bars. According to a report by Manila Bulletin, the government plans to set aside at least 1.25 meters to 1.50 meters for bike lanes. Apart from the bike lanes, side walks are also set to be improved.
