Should we be alarmed that the Population Commission (PopCom) has projected that the number of Pinoys would hit 100 million this year?
Well, according to Malacañang, we shouldn’t be. “Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma said the government has enough resources and it is prepared to adjust,” reports ANC.
According to the report, as of 2013, the national population stands at 97.35 million. That’s why PopCom Executive Director Juan Antonio Perez was concerned that “a bigger population might put a strain on education, health, and infrastructure.”
However, Coloma assured that “the funds for social services have been increasing every year with 37.4 percent allotted for it in the 2014 national budget.”
That isn’t exactly good news, is it?
