The local government of Marikina is flexing its muscle to get its fledging cottage industry back on its feet. On Monday, the city launched a Shoe Caravan as part of its Marikina Shoe Festival. The store-on-wheels will be touring for more than a month (see schedule below) to spread the word that Marikina shoes still have a lot of fight in it. The caravan will make stops at each city in Metro Manila, hoping to spur interest in their products. Better start walking towards the next stop because shoes are sold there at a 30 per cent discount.
In them meantime, we’re still awed by this photo of a giant Christmas tree trimmed with shoes (how cute!) that was posted to the Marikina News blog on Sept 30. We want one of those.
