Is this man telling the truth or does he have something else in mind?
Polish tourist Tomasz Chalot Stanislaw, 41, has refused to leave the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) clinic, where he has been staying since Dec 7, until his China Airlines flight to Poland is rebooked to either Dec 14 or Dec 15.
“Stanislaw claimed he arrived at the NAIA on Mon, Dec 7, from Butuan City, where he had spent four months with his longtime Filipina girlfriend, whom he only identified as ‘Monalisa.’ He said he had gone to Butuan to propose to her,” reports Rudy Santos in The Philippine Star.
“I promised her that I would be back in a couple of months to prepare everything in Poland, as I planned to bring her there,” he explained.
Stanislaw then went on to claim that he had hailed a taxi to bring him to a hotel where he could stay until it was time for his Dec 10 flight to Poland. However, the taxi driver supoosedly sped away after he put his luggage in the trunk.
Stanislaw only had his passport left. He didn’t have any money. For some reason, he also didn’t contact the Polish embassy for help.
Instead, as the report indicated, he “roamed around NAIA Terminal 1 and 2 to find someone who could help him get food.” At night, he slept in the men’s room at NAIA Terminal 1.
The report noted: “On Dec 9, airport attendants found Stanislaw sleeping in the NAIA Terminal 1 restroom. They gave him biscuits and bottled water. They then brought him to the clinic after he complained of chills.”
Stanislaw was found to be in good condition, though. However he said he could not take his Dec 10 flight because he could no longer lift his leg.
Nurse-on-duty Paz Santamaria and her colleagues “tried to contact China Airlines to rebook Stanislaw’s flight, but the ticket indicated it could not be rebooked.”
Stanislaw reportedly “insisted that his flight be rescheduled to Dec. 14 or 15 but did not say why.”
