Stop posting your vacation photos on social media.

That’s essentially what Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Bernard Banac said yesterday as Filipinos welcome the summer season and go on more vacations.

Banac said this would help vacationers stay safe during their trip.

“If possible, post your photos after you’re done with your vacation,” he said, according to ABS-CBN News.

Sounds like people’s witty hashtags and carefully chosen filters will have to wait.

In a press conference today, Banac also gave other safety tips by saying that the public should lock their houses properly before going away on their trips.

“Our houses should be safe and secured and if possible ask your neighbor to look after it,” he said.

He also warned people against consuming party drugs when they’re out enjoying the summer with their family and friends.

“To those who are going to places which will be full of foreigners and other Filipinos, again we remind you, avoid party drugs. Those who will try small amounts and add it to their drinks thinking that they’ll have more fun but when you are caught, you will be made responsible for that,” Banac said today.

The spokesperson also reminded vacationers to take care of their belongings while traveling.

Banac announced today that the PNP has already launched Oplan Sumvac 2019, an operation where almost 78,000 cops will be deployed on major roads, airports, seaports, tourist destinations, and other crowded areas to keep travelers safe.

The PNP told travelers that they can expect more patrols and police assistance desks in areas such as bus terminals and seaports during the duration of Oplan Sumvac, reported Journal Online.

He also said that all vacation leaves filed by cops have been canceled for the entire summer months to ensure that they will have enough people on board.

Operation Sumvac will end in June, when classes in most schools start, Radyo Inquirer reported.
