Is it just us or are drug dealers getting even more brazen?
“On Friday, Jan 24, police arrested four men and seized PHP1.3 billion worth of shabu in Parañaque City,” report Julie M. Aurelio and Nancy C. Carvajal in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The men were on a van and reportedly headed to Cavite City when they were intercepted by the police. The vehicle turned out to be loaded with 272 kilograms of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
The suspects were identified as those arrested on Friday as Robert Tan, 63, and Oliver Tan, 26, of Moonwalk Village, Parañaque, and their companions Mark San Gabriel Jr., 29 and Felino Diamse, 49.
According to the report, the elder Tan claimed that “an unidentified woman asked him to pick up a cargo from a hotel in Parañaque and paid his group PHP70,000 to bring it to Cavite City.”
The police, who made the arrest based on “a tip from an informant,” aren’t really buying Tan’s claims. They revealed that they had “tailed the van from Sentosa Subdivision before they blocked it on Marina Avenue in Dongalo Village in Parañaque.”
