Drug users can get pretty desperate when it comes to hiding their stash, especially in President Rodrigo Duterte’s Philippines, but a suspected drug den in Negros Occidental got so hopeless, it turned to the Bible for help. Literally.

On Wednesday, police arrested two men, Jose Ansuyon and Marvin Dioso, in Victorias City, Negros Occidental after they found what looks like shabu (meth) hidden inside a Bible during a drug bust.

“We were having a hard time looking for the items, we never expected that they will [hide] them inside a Bible. Who would expect to see shabu inside a Bible?” Supt. German Garbosa, Victorias Police chief, told ABS-CBN News.

According to regional radio station RMN, three sachets of the suspect shabu were found inside a hole that was carved out from the Bible’s pages. Another sachet was found in Dioso’s possession along with a small-town lottery tally sheet.

Ansuyon said he had no idea how the drugs got inside the bible and that he was just selling the foil used to pack the drugs.

Garbosa said that they had been investigating Ansuyon prior to the drug bust. “We have been monitoring him for months already and we have received information that his house also serves as a drug den,” he said.

Cases have been filed against Ansuyon. He and Dioso are both detained at the Victorias police station.
