This has got to be one of the strangest places for a drug den.
Yesterday, police discovered a drug den inside a bunker in a secluded area in Barangay (Village) Paliparan III, Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
Yes, a bunker.
The underground shelter measured 2×2 meters and could only fit four to five people, ABS-CBN News reported. Found near it were aluminum foil and plastic sachets.
Seven suspected drug pushers and users allegedly used it as a hide-out; they were caught with five plastic sachets containing suspected shabu (meth).
Senior Superintendent William Segun, the provincial director of Cavite police told ABS-CBN News that authorities accidentally discovered the hiding place when they followed drug suspects who were running away from a buy-bust operation.
According to the same report, drug addicts also allegedly use the place as a hang out spot.
Police think the bunker was specially made to serve as a drug den because it’s surrounded by grass and trees and isn’t immediately noticeable.
So, like a less innocent version of a secret clubhouse?
ABS-CBN News reported that it looks like the bunker had been there for a while because the soil and grass used to cover it was already very dry.
Even authorities thought the location was quite strange, if not clever.
“What the [drug] pushers did was very unique. No one wants to use a house so they used an improvised bunker. You can’t issue a search warrant [for that],” Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza, chief of the Calabarzon police said in Filipino.
Police said it would have the bunker destroyed.
