A suspected robber was arrested on Tuesday by members of the Quezon City Police District on the lookout for illegal guns.
According to the Philippine National Police, officers from the Fairview Police Station (QC Police Station 5) arrested Joel Mendoza for having “one caliber .38 revolver with three live ammo inside its cylinder, and one pouch bag of NIKON DSLR.” Complainants Buenaventura Adriano and his wife identified Mendoza “as the very same person who held them up and ransacked their belongings inside their residence on April 8.”
The Philippine National Police has been implementing a nationwide gun ban because of the upcoming elections. It has confiscated 2,555 guns since the gun ban started. Police have also confiscated 136 airsoft guns and air guns, 839 bladed weapons, 154 grenades, 487 “other explosives”, and 22,380 rounds of ammunition.
