Apparently, police in the province of Aklan felt like they had to do something special after they arrested Palawan’s most wanted suspect on his birthday.
Philippine National Police (PNP) authorities in Aklan confirmed that they arrested the accused, identified as Allan Barrientos delos Angeles, yesterday.
Delos Angeles had just turned 44 the day police showed up at his door.
Reports say that delos Angeles, who was wanted for illegal possession of firearms and attempted murder, did not resist arrest and immediately confessed to the crimes he was wanted for, which took place in 1996.
Delos Angeles was granted bail of PHP60,000 (US$1,142.26) for the illegal possession charge and P200,000 (US$3,807.53) for the attempted murder charge.
Authorities took him to Altavas Municipal Police Station, where they found out that it was the suspect’s birthday. While they didn’t grant him an early release as a birthday treat, they were nice enough to surprise delos Angeles with a birthday cake.
Delos Angeles reportedly spent the night in jail and posted bail the next day.
