Poe’s son clarifies he only bought knock-off ‘Back to the Future’ shoes at PHP10K

Brian Poe Llamanzares — the son of presidential candidate Grace Poe — explains that he wasn’t exactly wearing the genuine 2011 Limited Edition Nike Mag 10 shoes. He had gotten flak recently for his so-called “lavish” footwear.

A Facebook page called Ayaw Ko Poe had alleged that the shoes are USD$19,999 (around PHP902,405).

The 2011 Limited Edition Nike Air Mag 10 shoes pay homage to the pair featured in the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II, as worn by lead character Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox). According to various reports, the shoes have been sold from USD$3,500 (around PHP166,232) to USD$10,000 (around PHP474,950). Some pairs have reportedly fetched higher prices.

However, as Llamanzares was quoted in an InterAksyon.com report, “I apologize if anyone was offended by my shoes, it was never my intention to upset anyone. I just wanted to buy myself something after saving up for months.”

He added, “I don’t know much about shoes and I’m not exactly a sneaker expert so when I saw these online for PHP10,000 and I liked the design, I saved up and bought the shoes.”
