PNR’s Tutuban-Laguna line now runs daily

Trains are less of a pain.

“The intercity line of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) will now run from Tutuban in Manila to Sta. Rosa in Laguna daily with the opening of four new stations in the towns of San Pedro, Biñan, and Sta. Rosa in Laguna,” reports Kris Bayos in the Manila Bulletin. The report added that there is also a new station in Muntinlupa City.

PNR general manager Engr. Joseph Allan Dilay explained, “The resumption of the PNR South Line will initially cover up to Sta. Rosa station only because the San Cristobal bridge before Calamba is not yet ready and not safe yet to run trains.”

However, as the report revealed, “once the south extension line is operational, passengers will be charged PHP35 for a ride from Tutuban to Sta. Rosa or PHP40 up to Calamba.” PNR riders are currently pay PHP20 for a ride from Tutuban to Alabang.

FYI: At least 18,000 passengers ride the PNR everyday. Click this link for more information on PNR’s stations and schedules.
