We hope for more good news related to trains.
“The Philippine National Railway will launch the Tutuban-Calamba route and inaugurate a new station in Calamba, Laguna on Tuesday, December 2,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
According to the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), the Tutuban-Calamba route will start with two daily trips. The end-to-end fare costs PHP45.
Two trains will be assigned to the regular Manila-to-Calamba route. The first trip will depart from Tutuban station at 7pm on Dec 2.
There are plans to add two more trips early next year.
The report noted: “With the new station, the PNR’s operations will now be expanded to 56 kilometers from the current 53 kilometers. It will serve an additional 3,000 to 5,000 passengers every day, on top of the current 70,000 daily passengers.”
