The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) is set to take over the traffic management of EDSA starting Mon, Sep 7.

The HPG cops reviewed some recommendations to ease traffic at six “choke points” in EDSA, such as deploying tow trucks along the road, banning of parking near bus stations, and extending the green light at intersections.

Meanwhile, MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said the proposed measures are still open to changes.

“The situation is evolving. After this, there might be a walk-through along EDSA,” Tolentino said.

The cops will be manning the capital’s main thoroughfare in coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Land Transportation Office (LTO), and the Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
