The Philippine National Police (PNP) said personnel in its custodial center are making certain adjustments to protect detainees from heat-related illnesses.

PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr. said the PNP has assigned personnel from PNP’s health services department to assist detainees who are at risk of being hit by heat-related illnesses.

“Nakatutok din yung mga personnel sa mga health service kung sakaling mag-rereklamo ng chest pains, blood pressure. Naka-ready sila doon para mag-respond,” Cerbo said.

Cerbo said PNP is also making sure that there is proper ventilation in the center, where high-profile personalities such as Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon ”Bong” Revilla Jr. are currently detained.

“Isang senador na po ang pinuntahan na ng mga duktor natin para mag-pacheck dahil sa reklamo sa blood pressure, two or three days ago,”said Cerbo.

According to Cerbo, the PNP Custodial Center also plans to set-up makeshift tents using tarpaulin in common areas in the center where detainees are allowed to stay.

Each detainee is allowed to have one electric fan in their respective areas, Cerbo said.
