PNP to deploy 16,090 cops for SONA 2016

The PNP will be on alert in relation to State of the Nation Address (SONA) starting this weekend.

“On Mon, Jul 25, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy more than 16,090 of its personnel to secure the Batasang Pambansa Complex where President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will deliver his first SONA,” reports Francis T. Wakefield in Manila Bulletin.

Police Chief Supt. Oscar Albayalde, acting National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, explained that out of the 16,090 police personnel who will be deployed during the SONA, about 10,000 to 11,000 will be deployed near the vicinity of the Batasan area where the House of Representatives is located.

However, Albayale said that they don’t expect violent rallyists during the SONA because most of them are actually supporters of President Duterte.
