PNP Chief Alan Purisima faces plunder, graft raps

It’s another legal mess.

“The Coalition of Filipino Consumers, a consumer rights group, has filed plunder and graft charges against Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Alan Purisima over his alleged unexplained wealth,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The group has accused Purisima of having “unexplained wealth.” They cited several of his alleged properties, including a posh rest house in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.

The report noted: “The staff of the news show, Failon Ngayon, were told by residents of San Leonardo about a rest house in an area that is allegedly owned by Purisima. But when the group went to the Office of the Municipal Assessor of San Leonardo to ask about the controversial property, they were given a certificate showing that Purisima does not own any real property in the town.”

According to Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas, “unless the court says Purisima is guilty, the latter still has his trust and confidence.”

Roxas added, however, that “the lifestyle check on police officials, including Purisima, will continue.”
