PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group reveals most common online offenses

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group recently revealed that they have recorded over 1,200 cybercrimes in the last three years.

“Many of these complaints center on online scams, followed by online libel, online threats, identity theft, and unauthorized release or taking of photos or videos,” reports ANC.

That said, here are the top five cybercrimes reported by Pinoys:
 

  • Online scams: 366 cases
  • Online libel: 240 cases
  • Online threats: 129 cases
  • Identity theft: 127 cases
  • Photo and video voyeurism: 89 cases

The PNP urges the public to report cybercrimes through their hotlines (4141560 or 7230401 local 5313 and 09985689082), online addresses (pnp.anticybercrimegroup@gmail.com and www.acg.pnp.gov.ph), and social media accounts (Twitter – @pnpacg and Facebook – PNP ACG).
