Stars in the entertainment industry are next in line in the president’s war against drugs.
According to Philippine National Police anti-illegal drugs group director Sr. Supt. Albert Ignatius D. Ferro, they have been monitoring some celebrities whose names they got from an operation in San Pedro City, Laguna, last month.
A Journal Online article recalls that, in August, police shot and killed Alvin “Vergel” Commerciante who was “believed to be the top supplier of drugs to showbiz stars.”
The operation resulted in the seizure of a shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia from Commerciante’s residence.
That said, Ferro addressed the celebrities concerned, saying, “We’re asking celebrities in drugs to turn themselves in to us just like the thousands who have surrendered to the PNP in line with the ongoing Oplan Tokhang or they will be our next target.”
Now, does “target” refer to a shame campaign or a much harsher course of action?
