President Benigno Aquino III has summoned agency heads in Malacañang for an update on the recent floods in the metropolis as well as the flood mitigation projects, says Cabinet Secretary Rene Almendras.
In an ABS CBN News report, Almendras said the departments of Public Works and Highways, Transport and Communications, as well as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority are “integrating” their efforts to address the problem of flooding.
Almendras likewise noted that no single agency should be blamed for the floods. Palace Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte, for her part, said efforts are ongoing to clear garbage from drainages and waterways. At the same time, officials noted that Malacañang is also acting on the relocation if residents living along waterways and other flood prone areas.
