The K to 12 law, set to institutionalize 12 years of basic education in the Philippines, has been signed by President Benigno Aquino III. The controversial K-12 program is set to add two more years after fourth year high school and makes Kindergarten mandatory for five-year-old students.
The law aims to arm graduates with more skills in order to help them make better choices in their respective careers later on. The Department of Education will be introducing the K to 12 curriculum for Grades 1 and 7 this June. In the long run, the K to 12 Program is also expected to have effects on the college curriculum, the Business Mirror reported.
