OK, but he can’t blame people for jumping to conclusions about his reasons.
“On Wednesday, Jan 29, President Benigno Aquino III said that he won’t yet certify as urgent the proposed measure that would prohibit political dynasties in the government,” reports Louis Bacani on Philstar.com.
In a televised interview with the media at the sidelines of The Outstanding Filipino 2013 Awarding Ceremonies in Muntinlupa, Aquino said, “”Hihingi ako ng paumanhin. Hindi yan ang isa sa pinakamataas na priority natin sa kasalukukyan. Gusto kong makita ang lahat ng detalye muna (I’m sorry. That’s not one of my top priorities at the moment. I want to see all the details first).”
Aquino explained that he hasn’t been able to see the proposed law in detail since he is still occupied with other matters both in the domestic and international scene.
Then again, he also quipped, “Pero ‘pag nakita nga natin at doable, bakit naman hindi (If we see it’s doable, then why not, right)?”
Meanwhile, the report pointed out that “authors of the consolidated Anti-Political Dynasty Act of 2013 that is pending in the House of Representatives have asked the President to certify the measure as urgent.”
