On Tue, Apr 28, reporters asked President Noynoy Aquino about what he would like to say to Filipino ring icon and Sarangani representative Manny Pacquiao in anticipation of the latter’s upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Aquino expressed confidence that Pacquiao would win the fight. He also emphasized that it would be best if Pacquiao retired after his bout with Mayweather.

In a GMA News Online report by Andreo Calonzo, Aquino was quoted as saying, “He has done so much already for our country. We should think about what’s good for him instead of urging him to keep fighting.”

Aquino went on to remind Pacman that “continued fighting in the ring does not promote good health.”

The President pointed out that Pacquiao should avoid “unnecessary risks” and think about his young children. “You’ve saved some money already. It’s time for you to enjoy what you have with your family.”
