It was his last U.S. stop before he want back to the Philippines…and he decided to treat himself to a meal that he may as well have gotten at home. But, hey, as they say, “Walang basagan ng trip!”
President Noynoy Aquino caused quite a commotion in a San Francisco neighborhood when around 20 policemen on motorcycles and 10 police cars had to escort him and his entourage to a McDonald’s outlet.
Hoodline.com reported: “Did you happen to notice the diplomatic entourage that landed at the west end of Haight Street this afternoon? If so, you’re not alone. The visit made a little splash on social media, as passersby tried to figure out what the imposing motorcade outside McDonald’s was all about.”
San Francisco Eater added: “Proving that a Big Mac attack knows no borders, President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, the leader of the Philippines, chose none other than the Haight and Stanyan McDonald’s for his lunch today—and brought along a massive entourage of San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) officers, security SUVs, and diplomatic vans to join him in the quest.”
Hoodlione.com went on to say that after his McDonald’s lunch, President Aquino was seen browsing jazz CDs at a store called Amoeba Music.
Hoodline.com then revealed that a local resident Jerry Gainor caught some more photos of Aquino’s visit, which, as the report put it, “show an intimidating array of SFPD motorcycles as well as a smiley President Aquino greeting his admirers.”
