After the burn of a speech by VP Binay on Wednesday afternoon, President Aquino told reporters two things Thursday morning at an event in Pasay: (1) that he was surprised with Binay’s decision to quit the cabinet and (2) that he never made him feel like a ‘spare tire.’

Speaking in Filipino, the President said he gave every chance for Binay to remain popular and showcase his political skills, though they don’t belong to the same party.

“The president further said he and his Cabinet official will answer all of Binay’s accusing words soon,” notes Andreo Calonzo on GMAnetwork.com.

Surprised by Binay’s decision to quit the cabinet on Monday, the President revealed that he immediately reached out to Binay to clarify what the hell happened.

Said the President in Filipino that Binay mentioned to him there were too many reasons why he decided to quit, and that he (Binay) would write them all down and send back to the President.

Reacting to Binay’s speech and the problems he pointed out, Aquino took a stab at the BP: said while the VP enumerated problems, he never presented any clear solutions.

Immediately after the speech, Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda sent out a statement saying it was unfortunate Binay decided to begin his presidential run with statements that could’ve been discussed with the president.
