There’s a new man for the very challenging job.

“Malacañang announced on Wednesday, March 25, President Noynoy Aquino has appointed an Ateneo-educated Palace lawyer as the new chairman of the Commission on Audit (COA),” reports Genalyn Kabiling in Manila Bulletin.

The report noted: “Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs (DESLA) Michael G. Aguinaldo will take the place of Ma. Gracia Pulido Tan whose term ended in February. He will serve the term until February 2, 2022 based on the ad interim appointment signed by the President.”

The report went on to say that “before joining the Aquino government, he was a partner at the Romulo Mabanta Buenaventura Sayoc & de los Angeles from October 1994 to May 2011, Aguinaldo was also a faculty member at the Ateneo de Manila Law School and the Far Eastern University – De La Salle University JD-MBA Joint Degree Program.”

Deputy Presidential Spokeswoman Abigail Valte added that “there is no announcement yet as to Aguinaldo’s replacement as deputy executive secretary for legal affairs, a post he occupied since May 2011, handling legal affairs for the Office of the President.”
