Will this case move forward or will it just get shot down?
“Alan Peter Cayetano and his wife, Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano have been slapped with complaints for their alleged violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act before the Office of the Ombudsman,” reports Jenny Reyes on ABS-CBNnews.com.
The complaints were filed by Atty. Roderick Vera of the group Philippine Association for the Advancement of Civil Liberties, Inc.
The report noted: “In its complaint, the group alleged that Sen. Cayetano misused his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) from 2007 to 2009, around the same time when the senator was claiming he was deprived of his pork barrel funds for being critical of then-president Gloria Arroyo.”
The group also alleged that “Cayetano has unexplained wealth, based on a leap in his net worth from PHP15 million in 2010 to PHP23 million pesos in 2011.”
The report further said that “the group likewise filed a separate graft complaint against the senator, his wife Lani, and 16 city councilors for the alleged purchase of 18 overpriced multicabs worth over PHP8 million, or roughly half a million pesos each.”
Last but not least, the group filed “plunder charges against Mayor Cayetano and the 16 councilors for allegedly releasing PHP313 million for the hiring of over 3,000 ghost employees.”
