Remember last year’s US Capitol Building attack when eagle-eyed Filipinos spotted a possible Pinoy rioter who brought a walis tambo while dressed up as Captain America?

The dead giveaway that he was likely Filipino? His weapon of choice — a walis tambo, a traditional broom made of grass and rattan or bamboo.
Well, after internet sleuths uncovered the identity of the broom-toting insurgent on Facebook, Kene Brian Lazo, who hails from Ilocos Sur, reportedly confessed to a US district judge that he indeed was one of the goons who stormed the D.C. landmark in a failed attempt to block the proclamation of US President Joe Biden after he won the 2020 elections.

Lazo told the court that he regretted joining the riots as he pleaded guilty to several misdemeanors, including:
- Knowingly Entering or Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority
- Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority
- Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds or in a Capitol Building
- Parading, Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building
A Washington D.C. court is set to sentence Lazo in July, who potentially faces six months in prison and a US$500 penalty.
Lazo is also charged with a sexual battery of a child in Virginia that took place months after the Capitol riots.
Some 2,500 Trump supporters stormed the Congress building on January 6, 2021, that resulted in five people dead and hundreds injured.
