PHP6.5 million worth of fake cigarettes seized

Smoking is dangerous to your health and faking cigarettes is just as hazardous.

“On Friday, Nov 29, the Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized PHP6.5 million worth of fake Winston cigarettes in warehouse in Aurora Boulevard, Tramo in Pasay City,” reports ABS-CBNNews.com. Some 261 boxes of fake cigarettes—with each box containing 50 reams—were confiscated.

The cigarette bust happened after operatives of the NBI-IPRD received a complaint from the Japan Tobacco Inc. that a man identified as Feliciano Ching alias “Yi Ling Shuang” was selling fake cigarettes. The owner of the warehouse faces charges for violating Republic Act 8283 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
