With the amount of marijuana that got burned, maybe some of the particles were able to travel all the way to Metro Manila! (We’re kidding.)
“On Friday, May 16, around PHP32.2 million worth of marijuana plants were uprooted and burned in Kibungan, Benguet,” reports ABS-CBN News Northern Luzon correspondent Mae Cornes on ABS-CBNnews.com.
Apparently, Benguet police discovered nine plantations in the area based on a tip.
The Benguet police explained that “marijuana plantations still exist in the area because farmers have a hard time transporting legal produce due to lack of developed roads.”
The report likewise noted that “the livelihood projects initiated by the Dangerous Drugs Board also seem to be ineffective in stopping the planting of marijuana.”]
