The people who brought them into the country are definitely not on Santa’s “Nice List.”

“The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Tuesday, November 25, destroyed confiscated substandard Christmas lights worth about PHP1.2 million,” reports Dennis Datu on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “The DTI used a backhoe to crush the 8,853 sets of substandard Christmas lights confiscated from various retail establishments in Metro Manila this month.”

Needless to say, the confiscated Christmas lights had not passed the DTI Bureau of Product Standards (BPS) and also had no Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers.

The importers and retailers of the substandard products have already been charged.
