Team Philippines has been having a pretty good Olympics so far, with Hidilyn Diaz bringing home the gold in women’s weightlifting and Nesthy Petecio bagging the silver in women’s boxing (and Margielyn Didal winning hearts from all over the globe).
It’s another full day for the Philippine team today, August 5. As of 7:30am, the first round of women’s golf has already wrapped up, with Bianca Pagdanganan at seventh place and Yuka Saso at the 47th spot.
Later today, the boxers will take the ring again, as Carlo Paalam and Eumir Marcial go up for the semifinals in the men’s flyweight and men’s middleweight divisions, respectively. Paalam’s fight is scheduled for 1:30pm, and Marcial right after at 2:03pm Philippine time.
Paalam will face Ryomel Tanaka of Japan, and Eumir Marcial goes up against Oleksandr Khyzniak of Ukraine. Boxers are guaranteed the bronze, while the winners go on for a shot at the gold medal.
