While the Philippine sailing team is eyeing three golds in the coming Southeast Asian games in June, the national tennis team is looking at bringing home 5 gold medals. And though it may be a young team, the talent is quite impressive.
“Sports commissioner Buddy Andrada is optimistic Filipino netters can win as many as five gold medals in the Southeast Asian games set June 5 to 16 in Singapore,” writes Marc Anthony Reyes on Inquirer.net.
With the likes of Treat Huey, Tuben Gonzales, Francis Casey Alcantara, Jeson Patrombon, and Patrick John Tierro, he thinks the team can bag the gold model in the following events:
– men’s team
– men’s doubles,
– mixed doubles,
– men’s singles
– women’s singles.
“The Philippines won a single gold in the 2011 Indonesia SEA Games through Huey and Denise Dy,” the report adds.
