Philippine Navy personnel to give up meal allowance for Yolanda relief

The daily meal allowance for each member of the Philippine Navy is PHP90. It’s not much, but if they all give it up then they could raise as much as PHP2.07 million to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

“According to Col. Edgard Arevalo, the Navy’s Civil Military Operations Group commander, they have started the process with one of the Navy’s major units,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.

Arevalo explained that they are hoping to raise their target amount of PHP2.07 million within the week. The Navy folks are also reportedly giving up their Christmas parties to express their sympathy for those who are suffering in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda.
