Now, this is genuine good news.
“On Monday, Mar 3, the Philippine National Railways (PNR) launched a special coach service as an alternative for motorists as heavy traffic is expected due to road projects,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
Each “premier” PNR train can accommodate 120 people per trip and boasts of air-conditioning, reclining seats, and even a lounge area. Soon, WiFi will be available, too. The special fare will range from PHP60 to PHP90.
According to the PNR, the initial phase of the special coach service will run four times per day, with the following schedules:
Tutuban to Sta. Rosa – 5:47am (departure) and 7:33am (arrival)
Sta. Rosa to Tutuban – 8:00am (departure) and 9:46am (arrival)
Tutuban to Sta. Rosa – 4:17pm (departure) and 6:03am (arrival)
Sta. Rosa to Tutuban – 6:08pm (departure) and 7:54am (arrival)
PNR management said their commuter line currently serves an average of 65,000 passengers on 70 trips per day.
Just a suggestion: How about premier MRT trains in the future? (There are people who are more than willing to pay more to avoid the crush of the irked mob.)
