The Philippine Coast Guard has not been getting much love lately.
They’ve been getting heat from Taiwan over an incident that left a Taiwanese fisherman dead, and our Justice department might charge some of them over the incident. The National Bureau of Investigation has recommended charges against the crew of monitoring vessel MCS-3001, a boat manned by Coast Guard and Fisheries bureau personnel.
Whether or not they broke rules of engagement is up to the President, and if charges are filed, to the courts to decide.
In the meantime, here are picture of the Philippine Coast Guard doing its job. In this case, deploying last week to help in rescue operations for the M/V Our Lady of Carmel in Masbate.
