The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) together with their counterparts in the United States and Philippine Navy participated in the Cooperation Afloat Readiness Training Exercise (CARAT 2013) in Subic Bay, Zambales last month.
Commodore Eduardo Gongona, Coast Guard fleet commander said the exercise aimed to enhance capabilities in diving and salvaging, seaphase, subject matter expert matter expert exchange (SMEE), communications checks, visit board search seizure (VBSS), and tactical combat care.
The six-day event increased interoperability between the PCG and PN as well as with the US Navy.
CARAT is a series of annual bilateral military exercises conducted by the United States Pacific Fleet with several nations in Southeast Asia.
