Philippine Air Force helicopter crashes in Marawi, 2 injured

The good news: There were no casualties.

“A Philippine Air Force (PAF) Sokol helicopter accompanying a Cabinet mission aerial convoy that included Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin crashed in Marawi City Thursday afternoon, August 7, leaving 2 people injured,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

Roxas and Gazmin were not aboard the downed chopper though. The chopper convoy had a total of three helicopters.

The report noted: “The helicopter, one of 8 bought by the Department of National Defense (DND) from Polish company PZL Swidnik for P2.8 billion in 2012, crashed near a house shortly after take-off from the Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade headquarters at Camp Ranao.”

The investigation on the incident is ongoing.
