Not everyone wants to join the game.
Pokemon GO was launched in the Philippines and other Asian countries over the weekend, causing Filipinos to flock to various public places to catch virtual creatures.
One school in the city of San Juan in Metro Manila, though, has declared that it would be a Pokemon-free zone.
Xavier School — an institution run by the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus whose K-12 curriculum includes a mandatory Chinese language program — immediately posted an announcement on their official Facebook page.
The announcement read: “We would like to remind all faculty, staff, and students, that a ‘no gaming’ policy is in force at Xavier School. Visitors in search of PokeStops are not welcome!”
Apparently, Xavier School administration detected that two locations inside their campus had been tagged as PokeStops — the sites of the Hsi Kuang Chi Bust and the St. Ignatius de Loyola Statue.
One commenter on the school’s announcement, John S. Pattison, even pointed out, “Somebody is ignoring your rules. There’s a lure on the St. Ignatious statue.”
Meanwhile, other commenters suggested that the school request the removal of the PokeStops.
